Free website.
Today it is possible to make a website spending even zero ! Just use those free platforms and open your own account. Among the mistakes to avoid in your website there could be a cheap or free website.

Many of them offer you the tools that allow you to insert texts, images, links in a fairly intuitive way. Little practice and everyone can have their own site.

Is it worth it to make a free website?
My answer is: NO!

YES , if you are a private individual who wants to open a whatsapp number list personal blog or put your own idea online and you are not interested in the consequences.

NO , if you are a professional, a trader, a company that wants to sell its image, find contacts, acquire customers also through the website.

Why? I believe the reason is that “everyone must do their job” and “offer products in a transparent way and in line with their capabilities”.

For example, I like to cook and eat good food, but I would never dream of offering myself as a chef in a restaurant because, not being a professional, I do not know the techniques, timing and actions to take to cook and manage a kitchen. As a result, I would close the restaurant in a very short time.

The same thing happens with website development and marketing in general.

In this article I will describe some small and easily verifiable main situations.

1. Non-responsive website.
What does “responsive” mean? In simple terms, the site adapts the columns, texts and images to the type of screen on which the website is displayed. From the large screen of a PC to the small one of a smartphone, the website must be seen correctly without the user being forced to move continuously from one part to another.

Is it important? Yes, today it is crucial. Non-responsive sites are penalized by Google when viewed from mobile (smartphones and tablets).

But it is not enough that they are “just responsive” and that they automatically adapt to the screen.
Since viewing and enjoying content from a PC (large screen) is profoundly different from that from a smartphone (small touch screen), both graphics and texts must be designed for each and hidden or shown depending on the screen and device.

For example, there are contents and animations that work on PC and are not easily usable on smartphones.

Furthermore, PCs and smartphones are often used in different situations (PC at home and cell phone on the move) so the information we are looking for could be different and therefore should be adapted.

For example, if you have a shop, in the PC version you could immediately highlight products or offers, while on a smartphone the opening hours, telephone number and directions because the person could be out and about and need the product or service at that moment.

In websites studied in depth, strategies are also diversified depending on the situation in which your website is accessed.

2. Incomplete or outdated texts.
It’s one of the most infuriating things about visiting your website: clicking on a link for more information and finding a page with the classic test text “ Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…”.

These texts are standard and are inserted by the developer to create the pages while waiting to insert the final texts. They must disappear before the site is published.

Let's take an example: if you were looking for a dermatologist and found a new site, with a modern homepage, and at that point by clicking on the service you were interested in you entered an "empty" page with the text " Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..." , without therefore finding the information you were looking for, what would you do? What would you think of the professional?

Would you call it the same or look for another one with a full website?

Remember that on the web, clothes make the man and that the presentation must always be professional because the site is the first (perhaps only) interface that the customer has to acquire information about you and your business.

In these cases, the blame is shared equally between the developer and the site owner. Even if the developer “prepares the page” hoping that the owner will complete it, he should remove any references until the content is inserted and approved.

Texts with Lorem Ipsum - mistakes to avoid on your website

3. Pages not found.
It is perhaps worse than “Lorem ipsum” texts because you don’t even have a choice, you click on a button and find a blank page. At the very least you feel bad and go back. Technically we are talking about error 404.

Even if the content is not ready, do not publish the page , delay putting the entire site online because a mistake like this can easily make you lose the customer.

Since these are usually in-depth pages, you can generally resolve the issue by choosing between 3 solutions :

you do not publish the page and limit yourself to the brief presentation of the product/service without the link for further information. You will fix everything later after completing the page.
If you see that there are many pages where you are struggling to create persuasive texts, check the opportunity to simplify the site by providing less but complete information and according to a well-studied criterion.
If you think the in-depth page is essential, ask some copywriter specialist to write the texts for you. A short interview will be enough to get effective texts out.
