Study public speaking techniques

Post by suchona.kani.z »

Stage presence may seem innate, but in truth it rarely is.
Much of that confidence, that attitude, that way of being that fascinates us so much in the best speakers, is not innate but acquired.

One of the best, for example, is Simon Sinek , author of bestsellers such as Starting with Why but above all globally recognized as one of the most influential speakers of recent years.

He himself provided a series of interesting techniques to conquer the audience that I report below:

Don't start speaking right away, take your time and observe the audience: this will give an immediate image of confidence.
Avoid scanning the audience with your gaze, instead focus on one person at a time and create eye contact that simulates a dialogue.
Speaks excessively slowly: according to Sinek there is no such thing as a speaker who is too slow, in fact, if used consciously, slowness often helps to keep listeners glued to the speech
Look for people in the audience who make gestures of agreement such hong kong email list as smiling, and ignore those who seem to disagree with you, otherwise you could become demotivated.
There are many books, courses and seminars on public speaking, and if in your work you have a particular need to speak in public I recommend you follow some of them: the beneficial effects not only on your career but in general on your life will be extraordinary.

Do public speaking exercises to improve
As we were saying, it is important to prepare your presentation well and study public speaking techniques.

But are there any real exercises you can do? Is there a way to train and overcome the fear of public speaking, so you can be truly prepared for the big day?

The answer is yes.

On the one hand, the best way is to expose ourselves to situations where we are the center of attention, but where the stakes are not as high as at work.

A great example is in karaoke: if you've never picked up a microphone and sang in front of a group of complete strangers, you don't know what shame is.

Here, try and try again, even if you don't sing well, or rather, especially if you don't sing well: your goal is to desensitize yourself from the paranoia of what other people will think.
