Is it a good idea to say what you think on your blog?

Post by Abdur12 »

The opinion of the blogger is a key factor in the success of a blog. The question is what should be said and what should be left out of the mind.

I'm going to be ahead of myself this time. I think it's not always such a good idea to speak your mind to make yourself feel better. If you feel like you've been treated unfairly and you feel like yelling using your own blog to do so, it's probably not the best way to solve the problem.

Different ways to say what you think on your blog
Let's see. Obviously I always say what I think on this blog. This japanese number phone blog is pure opinion. What I don't do is say that Mr. X or Mrs. Y are idiots for me. I may think that but I can assure you that you will never read something like that on this blog. Otherwise, let me know and put a link in the comments to this post...

Expressing an opinion : expressing an opinion doesn't have to hurt. However, if you go against what everyone thinks or it's a hot topic like "Catalonia independence", "Barça or Real Madrid", "feminism", "crisis" ... (I could go on all day) you could create some controversy. Sometimes the author didn't have that intention and in the end they are surprised by the stir that a simple blog article has created.
Judging behaviour : Another hot topic would be, for example, talking about “abortion”. An opinion on this topic is judging behaviour in a positive or negative way. Even the use of the word itself can already imply the author’s opinion. Instead of talking about abortion, a person who wants to influence their reader to be in favour of it might use something more descriptive like “freedom of decision about continuing an unwanted pregnancy”. Words are very powerful.
Criticizing a person : we continue with hot topics. Talking about “Justin Bieber” would be a direct criticism of a person. Since he is a pop star with millions of euros in his bank account, it would not be a big problem for him if a blogger spoke badly about him. The problem in this case would be the anger of his “2 or 3 fans” that he has. They could send you DDOS attacks or do negative SEO on your blog (come on, this was German humor but it would be funny if it were the case).
