Why Discover Google Analytics: Part IV.

Post by suchona.kani.z »

Has my traffic increased thanks to a new campaign or a change in graphics? How many new visitors came to my site and where did they come from? Google Analytics can answer .

From the very first days, I was introduced to the workings of this tool. In AITOM, there is a great guy, David , who is also an analyst and definitely doesn't waste time. Outside of his work, he writes a blog about the web and marketing with his friend, Waste of Time . Nice title, not that his writing is. I was literally shocked during our training. Why? Google knows almost everything about me and about you too!

Anyone can use and benefit from Google Analytics, it's free . There are plenty of detailed instructions on how to connect Google Analytics to your websites on the Internet, but I'm a little behind the times today. Go to office 365 database the Google Analytics website and create an account. Once you're done, you'll receive a tracking code that you can place in the source code of your website. Done? From now on, Google Analytics collects data from your website.

Why do you need to track data in Google Analytics? Because you can sniff out:

how many visitors came to your website in the time period you choose, per day, month, year,
how customers respond to a campaign or change to your website, by comparing two time periods, such as months,
Who visits your website, are they mostly women, men, what age and from which region?
What traffic source did the customers come from, was it natural search, paid advertising, newsletter or Facebook?
how visitors behave, how long they stay on your page, where they go next,
If you have an e-shop, you will find out how many of the total e-shop visitors will ultimately make a purchase from you.
And that's just a basic list, every business needs to monitor different data , combine it, and find the gaps that are holding you back. We will also cover Google Analytics in the next part, including practical examples!
