Moz used to suck up link data... but not anymore! The new Link Explorer is here - Whiteboard Friday
MozRank and MozTrust relied primarily on the original Google PageRank paper from 1997, which is not a methodology that is used today. Google certainly uses some approach to link equity that passes between links similar to PageRank, and I think they probably call this PageRank internally, but it doesn't seem to be anything like what bahrain number data used to be called.
Similarly, MozTrust, very old, I think from a paper from 2002 or 2003. Search has advanced a lot since then.
It used a system that looked like spam three, four years ago, much more up-to-date than either of those, but not really as sophisticated as what Google is doing today. So we needed to throw those out and find alternatives to them as well.
5. There was no way to view links gained and lost over time.

Mozscape didn't have a way to see links gained and lost over time, and people thought, "Oh my God, these other tools in the SEO space give me the ability to show me links that their index has discovered or links that they've seen that we've lost. I really want that."
6. DA was not related as it should have been.

So over time, DA became a minimally indicative measure of how well you were doing in Google rankings. That also needed to change. The new DA, by the way, is much better on that front.
Spam score was also old.
