As Xie explained, the Security Fabric security architecture, with FortiOS at its core, was born three years ago to help customers address some of the challenges facing today’s hyper-connected enterprises. Security Fabric provides a comprehensive approach to security by serving as a glue between several of the company’s technologies. Key attributes of the system include visibility into network elements, advanced threat detection, and automated threat response capabilities. Fortinet’s product portfolio includes both physical and virtual network security appliances that run FortiOS firmware.
The OS received, Xie mentioned the so-called cloud connectors. They are required to provide full visibility into multi-cloud environments and offer the ability to enable end-to-end policies taking into jordan mobile database local law enforcement requirements for cross-border data transfer. “Cloud connectors are a kind of API that abstracts FortiOS from objects in the cloud, and therefore the functionality of the cloud connector can be updated without the need to update FortiOS itself,” explained John Madison, senior vice president of products and solutions at Fortinet.
As for the Security Fabric Audit Update Service (SFAUS), the audit service can now feed recommendations to the updated FortiGuard, the company’s threat intelligence platform. “Over time, we’ll add compliance templates to SFAUS — first PCI, then GDPR,” Madison said.
Among the business goals that Fortinet is interested in this year, he named software-defined distributed WAN (SD-WAN). As for the main characteristics and tasks that are usually set for SD-WAN, among them we can name intelligent management of traffic that is transmitted from the center to the branch and back. In addition, SD-WAN is characterized by a single point of control of the entire infrastructure and flexible monitoring of network activity.
