Microsoft Outage: November Bug
At the end of the year, on November 25, 2024, another major outage occurred, this time in Microsoft IT services. Due to a code error, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and Outlook experienced serious problems. Users around the world were unable to send and receive email, use calendars, and other corporate communication tools.
The outage began around 9:00 p.m. Moscow time. When opening Outlook email, users saw the message: "Your request cannot be completed right now." There were problems sending messages, saving drafts, and searching for messages. Microsoft technical support initially indicated that everything was working as normal, but the company later acknowledged the problem.
Online, Microsoft 365, and Teams. Users had trouble sending messages and accessing their calendar in Teams, as well as with the Outlook for Mac app. Some users reported being unable to sign in to their accounts or check their email.
Microsoft said on social network X (formerly Twitter) that its engineers were working on a solution. The company identified a recent change that caused the failure and began rolling it back. However, the failure was not fixed promptly, and the problems persisted for several hours.

Microsoft's Summer Global Outage
Earlier, on July 19, 2024, another major technical failure occurred related to Microsoft online services. It affected the work of American and European banks, mobile operators and mail services.
The outage has led to the cancellation of all flights by major airlines in the U.S., including Delta, United, and American Airlines, due to connectivity issues. Frontier Airlines also suspended flights, citing problems with Microsoft's online services. Airports in Germany, Spain, Turkey, and elsewhere have experienced severe difficulties, leading to delays and cancellations.
The problems affected the banking system. Australia's largest bank, Commonwealth Bank, reported problems with service, and supermarket checkouts were not working in Canberra. South Africa's largest bank, Capitec Bank, with 22 million customers, suffered, as did the Israeli banking system.
