However, for more than a year, utility companies have been unable to obtain permission from the Kyiv authorities to conclude agreements with operators to deploy digital infrastructure. In addition, the Kyiv City Council has not yet made a decision on establishing a fee for access to the city's municipal infrastructure, in particular the metro. Operators hope that this will happen at the next session of the Kyiv City Council, on March 12. If hopes come true, all three operators plan to launch 4G at 8 more metro stations during the first half of the year , and at all stations by the end of 2020. Otherwise, they cannot give clear forecasts regarding the timing of the investment project.
The launch of 4G at a single station was made possible mexico number data thanks to a previously concluded easement agreement between the operators and the Kyivzhitlospetsekspluatatsia KP. Under this agreement, the operators have the right to upgrade part of the equipment installed at the Akademmistechko station to the 4G standard.
What will passengers get?
According to statistics, the average Kyiv resident spends more than 3 hours a day on the Internet . And since two-thirds of Kyiv residents regularly travel by metro, access to mobile Internet in this mode of transport is indeed very important.
"As a reference point , I can give the example of the Kharkiv metro. Vodafone launched 4G there back in October 2018, and it was the first 4G network in Ukraine. In the first days after the launch, daily traffic jumped almost threefold! I am sure that we will leave the Kharkiv statistics far behind, because the technical solution that is currently being deployed in the Kyiv metro is one of the most modern in the world!", - comments on the event Olga Ustinova, CEO of Vodafone Ukraine.
Technical features of the project
Recall that in July 2019, operators selected Huawei as the supplier of a solution for building a joint 4G network in the capital's metro as part of a tender. To provide 4G services at the Akademmistechko station, only one base station manufactured by Huawei has been deployed, but thanks to special software, it broadcasts data in the allocated frequency ranges of each of the three operators. Currently, Kyivstar, Vodafone Ukraine and lifecell have used frequencies in the 1800 MHz range to deploy 4G at the Akademmistechko station: bands with a width of 20 MHz, 20 MHz and 15 MHz in accordance with the 4G licenses of each operator. But in the future, the 2600 MHz range will also be put into operation, which will allow increasing capacity and ensuring better quality and speed of mobile Internet.
From a technical point of view, the deployment
