What can you create by removing something? Ask yourself what you can minimize in your product. What can you leave out of your service? For me, for example, in my mobile phone contract it would be sending MMS . I have only sent one MMS in my life - when it was brand new and nobody dared to think about WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. I simply don't need this service.


Turn the inside out, use it the other way round? Does that make sense? Can a variant or a completely new product be developed from it? Turn all assumptions on their head and think the exact opposite. As you can see, SCAMPER is a bit more demanding, but it ensures that you challenge your brain in a completely different way with new ways of thinking - and I'm sure it won't disappoint you. Changes in perspective, such as those forced by this method, usually always bring new insights and ideas.

The Osborn method, which you can find described here in Jochen Mai's career bible , is very similar to SCAMPER . Jochen also has many other good articles on the subject of creativity on his website. Feel free to browse through them.
