A recent study from the London School of Economics shows that this “glocalization” trend is growing in Europe, with native artists appearing in the top 10 charts of the year, which until recently were dominated only by Anglo-Saxon artists. However, Spanish-language songs from globally successful artists like Bad Bunny and Eslabón Armado are bucking that trend, crossing borders like never before. How to make an amazing music video
This panel featured five of today’s top music video directors, who have worked with artists like Daft Punk, Jack White, and Olivia Rodrigo, and won awards at the SXSW film festival. In this roundtable, they shared the challenges they’ve faced, from pitch to production, and the solutions they’ve found to get through and make some of today’s best music videos. They are co-organized by We Direct Music Videos, the pioneering organization founded by Daniel Kwan, who directed “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and began his career making music videos. SXSW is one of the only major film festivals that pays tribute to music videos, so it’s the perfect venue for this panel. It showcased music videos from all five of its directors and talked about how they were made.
