Tomlinson introduced an @-based system

Engineer Ray Tomlinson sent this message to himself via ARPANET in 1971. The message "QWERTYUIOP" was transmitted from one computer to another in the same room. Fun fact: The sequence of these letters is still the same as what you see on the top row of the keyboard. Although the content of the message was not particularly important, the use of the "@" symbol did carry a load.
