In the history of mankind, the largest amount of data has been collected in the last couple of years. So, essentially, in these two years we could see a shift from unstructured information to structured information. Examples of such “structured data” would be Excel or Oracle databases. Unstructured data would be Twitter, Facebook, sensor data or video. — What examples of big data use do you find most impressive or relevant for our time?
My first example is agriculture, where, among other things, drones are used to collect data. By analyzing this information, farmers know exactly how much pesticide they will need, how much water they need for irrigation, and whether they need to increase or decrease their stocks. The second example is the US elections, when Obama beat Romney. Barack Obama's campaign used big data. After that, big data became even more interesting to the world.
