What is the role of the family and what is the role of the school in the development of children and adolescents? The COVID-19 pandemic has shed light on the need to reflect on an old question, but one that became even more evident in 2020. Here at LIT, the subject was discussed in an online event attended by our CEO and creator, Professor José Cláudio Securato , PhD, the consultant in innovation and educational management Paulo de Camargo , and José Ernesto Bologna , psychologist, writer and consultant for companies and schools in innovation.
The discussion arises for several reasons. Among the main points we can find the fact that, before the second half of the 20th century, the roles in a child's development were very clear: "the church moralizes, the family socializes and the school culturalizes", explains Bologna.
However, several sociocultural transformations occur denmark whatsapp data over time, putting these functions in check. Among them, we can highlight the entry of women into the job market, which changed and gave new features to the concept of family.
Thus, the roles of the school and parents become extremely confusing. "The school inherits a task that, in my opinion, it was not in a position to assume. A process of mutual accusation begins," Bologna points out, adding that, in response to this movement, educational institutions have begun to focus more on the human development of their students. "They have opened up to the issues of socialization and moralization, but this does not allow families to not be responsible as well," he concludes.
Paulo de Camargo raises another issue: the importance of communication between family and school. For him, it is necessary to keep in mind that this is not a mere service provision relationship, but rather a community relationship, which requires dialogue between both parties to be successful.
"It is necessary to understand this in order to start a conversation. It is important to have quality information in this relationship, family and school must communicate well", he highlights.
