ANDYouTube has stepped up its efforts to prevent people from using adblockers on the platform. The tech giant is “ launching a global effort ” by deploying more warnings to urge users to allow ads or subscribe to YouTube Premium, according to a statement from Christopher Lawton, YouTube’s communications manager, sent to The Verge .

According to the executive, the use of ad blockers violates the terms of service, adding that " ads support a diverse ecosystem of creators worldwide and allow billions to access their favorite content on YouTube ."

YouTube had already taken measures against adblockers in June
The fight against ad blockers is nothing new, as back in croatia number data June of this year YouTube confirmed that it had begun disabling videos for users using ad blockers , although Lawton described it at the time as a “ small experiment on a global scale .”

Initially, video disabling was rolled out in a few countries in a three-stage policy before blocking the player entirely. However, in early October, YouTube expanded its strategy to more countries and implemented a four-stage system for detecting blockers .

This four-stage system defines the level and actions YouTube takes against ad blockers:

Stage 1 – This is a pop-up window that can be dismissed by clicking outside of it.
Step 2 : This is also a pop-up, but the close button appears after several seconds.
Step 3 : Allows you to open only three videos before completely blocking the player.
Step 4 – Removes the video from the player and displays a warning stating that ad blockers are prohibited and the player will be unblocked after disabling the extension, adding YouTube to the list of allowed sites, or accessing the YouTube Premium subscription.
