HIt’s been a year since Threads was launched. The social network that was once considered a copy of X is now a worthy competitor: it has more than 175 million monthly active users. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced it on his Threads profile saying: “What a year .” And, considering that in April it announced that it had surpassed 150 million active users , it has indeed been a great year for the platform.

To mark its anniversary, Threads has included a new feature for its users. All they have to do is use the hashtag “Threads Birthday” in one of their threads and they will unlock a birthday hat that will be placed on their profile icon for a week.

Although the number of users using Threads per month is quite high, Meta has not shared the daily number of active users, which could indicate that users of this social network are occasional.

How Threads has evolved in a year
Contrary to what you might think, Threads is in fact united kingdom number data being used by millions of users every day, and no, it is by no means a forgotten social network that was only successful during its launch.

Threads was launched on July 6, 2023 in the United States, the United Kingdom, and most countries around the world, but it did not reach Europe until the end of that year. In its first 7 hours, it had already achieved 10 million registrations.

However, it still has a long way to go to catch up with the social networks with the most users in the world. For example, Facebook had almost 3 billion active users at the end of 2023. But if we look at a social network like Pinterest, which is closer to Threads' user volume, it had 500 million. Its main competitor, X, has more than 600 million active users who use the platform every day, as Musk stated in a post on the social network.

One of the keys to its success is its integration into the fediverse , which allows its posts to be displayed on other platforms that use the same protocol. Another is that Instagram itself generates traffic to Meta's text-based app, that is, Instagram shows users Threads posts that, if you click on them, you are redirected directly to it.

According to the company, more than 50 million tags have been created, including PhotographyThreads, BookThreads, and GymThreads. Some media outlets, such as The Verge, have commented that they are expected to introduce advertising on the platform in September.

For now, we'll have to wait and see how this social network continues to evolve, because it seems that we'll have Threads for a long time to come.
