How Poptin Exit Popups Helped Reduce Lead Costs by Over 50%
Overview

The campaign discussed in this case study was about a local Israeli brand of robot vacuum cleaners (hereinafter referred to as the “Robot Brand”). The experiment was conducted during the second quarter of 2017 (April-June) and the data was compared with the second quarter of 2016.

The goals of this experiment were very clear and Poptin was used to substantially increase the conversion rate. Keep in mind that the robot brand was in a crowded market with fierce competitors like IRobot. Therefore, even from 2016 to 2017, the direct mail marketing for personal injury email list advertising costs did not decrease. The robot brand had to use all possible means to increase their conversion rate.

Campaign Objectives

The Experiment

In Q2 2016, the robot brand launched an AdWords campaign with an average monthly budget of $2,200 for a specific landing page. The landing page for this PPC campaign converted at an average cost of $77 per lead. For a total budget of $6,600 for the entire quarter, the landing page generated 86 leads.

In Q2 2017, the robot brand wanted to use the same landing page, only this time in combination with Poptin. The robot brand created two popups and showed them to visitors using Poptin’s A/B Testing feature (the same templates were used just with different copy and design):

1. A round exit intent popup aimed at capturing visitors' attention with its special shape.

2. A timer popup designed to create urgency, the bot brand did not offer any discount in the poptin copy (this is important because offering a discount itself can increase conversion).
