The most recent major version of WordPress is WordPress 6.1, called “ Misha .” WordPress 6.1 was released on November 1, 2022, after going through several beta phases that began in September 2022.

The WordPress team is also hard at work on WordPress 6.2 – the first beta was released on February 7, 2023, and WordPress 6.2 is currently planned for release on March 28, 2023.
What's New in WordPress 6.1?
WordPress 6.1 primarily focuses on improving the Site Editor experience and functionality, along with general improvements to the Block Editor experience.
Apart from that, it has also brought a new default theme (Twenty Twenty-Three) along with a number of minor improvements, including over 60 accessibility-focused tweaks and fixes for over 25 performance-focused issues.

A New Default Theme: Twenty Twenty-Three
WordPress 6.1 includes a new default WordPress theme: Twenty Twenty-Three.
As with recent default themes, such as Twenty Twenty-Two and Twenty Twenty-One , Twenty Twenty-Three is designed to take advantage of the new functionality of the Site Editor.
It uses a minimalist approach from the start, but you can customize it to your liking using the numerous style variations and block patterns included.

Improvements in the Site Editor
WordPress 6.1 has introduced a number of changes to help you get more out of the Site Editor and customize your theme more easily.
Here's a quick summary:

More easily use and replace template parts in your designs.
1-click button to delete customizations for a given template.
Block Editor Tweaks and Improvements
WordPress 6.1 has also added a number of tweaks and improvements to the regular Block Editor .

More/better control over the edges of some blocks.
A new dimensions section that allows you to control margin and padding.
Option to select your post's featured image in the Cover block.
List and Quote blocks now include inner blocks, giving you more flexibility to control their layout.
Improvements to the Query Loop block.
