A game to practice reflexive verbs

Post by jrineakter »

Hi! You're wondering how you can remember reflexive verbs. These are verbs ending in "se" like "se souvenir" or "se laver". There are obviously many ways to practice vocabulary. But today, we suggest you do it in the form of a game.

Thank you for joining me for this new, somewhat special video. We're going to offer you a game to learn vocabulary. Before that, I invite you to follow the first link in the description to download the PDF file that accompanies this video. It will allow you to summarize a little bit of everything we've seen and you can download it for free and quickly by following the first link.

So, let's talk a little about reflexive verbs. Reflexive verbs are sometimes feared, already because they do not exist in all languages but also because they are not always easy to construct. As usual, the best way to understand their use is to use and reuse them in different contexts.

Today, we're not going to focus on theory at all, but on practice. What I'm going to do is tell you about a character's routine. It's a story that was written by Valentine, who helps turkey whatsapp number data me prepare these videos. What she did, she tried to use a lot of reflexives. She did it in the present tense, but on your side, when you're going to imagine maybe a similar story, you can do it in different tenses. Maybe first in the present, then in the past, then in the future. Since we don't know the person, we have to imagine a little of course.

So, here we go. Let's try to imagine the routine of one of our Belgian friends, Tintin.

We don't know him, but when we delve into his adventures, we get the impression that he gets up early. He seems to stick to a pretty strict routine when he's at home. We know that he starts his days with some physical exercise. He stretches, he settles down on his couch to read the newspaper. He's a reporter, so of course, he keeps up with the news. As you know, he's never parted from his faithful companion, Snowy. So together, they go for a walk in a park near their home. During the day, when he's not concentrating on writing his articles, it's because he's found himself embarked on a new adventure. And to discover which ones, all you have to do is delve into one of the many albums in his adventure series.

So, you see that in this story, we work a lot on reflexives, there are plenty of them, it's intentional, it's repeated, but we focused here on the person "he". If you want to vary it, you can make your own routine or you can imagine that you're talking to someone and that you're talking to them about their routine. You can imagine that you're talking to Tintin for example. Why not? You would say to him: "So you, if I understand correctly, you always get up early. You seem to stick to a fairly strict routine. It seems to me that you stretch in the morning. In general, you sit on your sofa to keep up with the news" etc.
