The funny thing about it:

I know that the topic is very complex and controversial. But my opinion is clear: there are certain innate talents.

But:

In the long run, it is not talent that wins, but conscious practice.

Talent does exist, but it is overrated.

A very worthwhile read canada telegram screening on this topic is Geneva Colvin's book: Talent is overrated *.

Above all, people who are bad at what they do believe in talent. And claim that they don't have any. In this way, they evade any responsibility.

On the other hand, people who have achieved a lot and are excellent at what they do do not believe in talent, but in hard work and perseverance.

This proves that “lack of talent” is usually just an excuse.

People often tell themselves the talent lie so as not to feel guilty about their poor performance.

Do I have talent?
I have often asked myself whether I have a “talent” for writing. Can a good writing style actually be innate?

I don't know it.

The fact is: I got a 4 in German in my Abitur – at least in the written part.

In elementary school, I could never correctly answer the question “What does the author want to say?”
