Decomposition of one step

Post by subornaakter24 »

It happens that some tasks cannot be decomposed. This is explained by the variability of the conditions of execution, when you have to adapt, adjust your actions taking into account the current situation.

Then you should resort to decomposition of one step. You need to decide what action at the moment will allow you to get closer to the goal. Then you formulate a simple task, add it to the school principals email list to-do list, then perform and repeat the procedure from the very beginning. This allows you to take appropriate actions every day and respond to external factors in a timely manner.

Don't ignore making a plan - although planning is not the first priority, it should also be given attention. The main thing is that you constantly have the opportunity to adjust the plan.

For each task, provide specific deadlines.

Decomposition by a universal algorithm
The presented scheme works almost always. If you have no experience in decomposition, you should start by studying this algorithm.

Setting a goal . First, define what you need. Describe this large-scale task in as much detail as possible before you begin to break it down.

Primary division into stages . In this case, the first level is formed, which consists of 2-7 stages. In most cases, three stages are distinguished - the beginning, the middle and the end. For example, in the process of cleaning a computer from dust, the specified stages are disassembly, cleaning, assembly.

Secondary division . To obtain the second level, successive tasks are allocated at each large stage. In particular, when disassembling a computer, it is necessary to pull out power cables, remove the case cover, unscrew boards, etc. If there is a possibility of further division of blocks, add a third level.

Analyze each branch of the plan . Check the logic of its construction, mutual compatibility of branches, mark points that are not necessary.

Reduce . Eliminate unnecessary actions, isolate and group parallel tasks. As a result, you will achieve optimization of the overall plan.

Implementation . You have formed a sequence of feasible tasks, you can move on to implementing the plan.

Common tools that simplify the process of decomposing goals are mind maps. They provide a visual representation of the plan, and there are specialized services for creating them.

SMART Methodology
Decomposition is based on two key questions: what needs to be done to achieve it, and can it be done now? It is enough to answer these questions regularly to form a list of elementary actions that, taken together, contribute to solving the main task.

SMART Methodology

At the same time, when compiling a task list, it is important to consider not only the sequence, but also the required resources. This can be achieved using the SMART goal setting technique, which includes the following requirements for tasks:

Specific - clear and unambiguous, not allowing for different interpretations.

Measurable - meaning that it can be numerically assessed.

Feasible (achievable) - the task can be completed under the current conditions.

Relevant - consistent with other current goals and objectives.

Time bound - execution must begin and end strictly within the specified time frame.

To begin meeting these requirements immediately, follow these steps: Describe the goal, specify the criteria by which you will judge its achievement, identify milestones to assess progress, divide the goal into tasks, set deadlines (for the entire project and for each individual task), and establish monitoring periods to identify deviations from the plan.
