Explain what a process design is

Post by Arzina3225 »

Google and Spotify know what makes them successful. This success is often explained by innovative products, new services or disruptive business models. Today I want to highlight another side of their success: the way they work. The process design of Google and Spotify is one of the most underrated and least described aspects of their success. In this article I will tell you more about it.

Google and Spotify focus on both what products they make and how they make them. Other innovators do the same. Process designers play a role here. Process designers are special employees who design how colleagues work together.

Then the question arises 'What is process design and what is its value?' I divide this question in two. First I explain what I mean by process. Then I
Content versus process
What is a process? I can best explain this with an canada mobile number list example. Imagine you and I order a pizza together. While we do this, we can talk about two things: the content and the process.

Content is about what kind of pizza we order. For example, we ask ourselves which pizzeria we are going to, what kind of pizza it will be and how big it is. All questions are focused on the content or on what we are doing.

When we focus on the process, we think about how we order the pizza. What do I expect from you and you from me? What do I expect from the pizza? And how do we decide which pizza it will be?

Walnut Model
The method for thinking about how we order pizza – or how we work together – in two different ways is called the Walnut Model or the Content and Process Model . It comes from the Swedish Defence University .
