18. Optimize Metatexts

Meta descriptions provide search engines and readers with information about the content of your page. Meta data should therefore all be optimized with information that will entice users to click and search engines to understand what your page is about.

If your metadata is too long, Google will truncate dbtodata your title tag and meta description in the snippet in SERP.

Here are some simple guidelines to optimize your meta texts:

As mentioned, your title should be about 60 characters long. It should include your target keyword and give an attractive preview of the topic of the page.
You should also think about your meta description (the text displayed below the URL). The description should be about 156 characters or less. So keep your description concise and compelling, to encourage someone looking for an answer to click through and visit your page.
