No power system in the modern world has experienced such a scale of destruction. In total, Ukraine lost about half of its generating capacity.

Massive attacks on energy infrastructure have undermined business confidence and expectations. Energy shortages are affecting households and industry as repairs to generation facilities take time. The situation has become even more complicated with planned repairs to nuclear power plants.

Let me remind you that in the spring alone, , Ukraine's energy sector special database suffered losses of over $1 billion. The IMF also confirmed that as a result of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine's energy sector suffered multi-billion dollar losses.

At the same time, according to the IMF, the costs of restoring the energy sector will not directly affect the state budget. According to the Fund's experts, domestic energy companies, in particular, the same DTEK, are carrying out the restoration work at their own expense.

The main problem today is air defense. No matter how hard Ukrainian energy companies try, no one will sell or transfer air defense and missile defense systems to them. Therefore, in order to prevent new large-scale destruction, the West must strengthen Ukrainian air defense. And do it as soon as possible.
