PlantLinker Key Capabilities in 2024

Post by shamimhasan07 »

" PlantLinker is built on the basis of a data-centric (or object-oriented) approach, but unlike heavy CAD systems (Smart 3D and AVEVA E3D), it uses XML files rather than a DBMS to store information. In this case, only information about engineering objects (equipment, building structures, pipelines, pipeline supports and hangers, instrumentation equipment, etc.) is stored, their engineering attributes (pressure, temperature, and much more) and geometric attributes (location coordinates, orientation, overall and other dimensions, such as the diameter and thickness of the pipeline walls). The geometric representation of the object is created only at the time of its numeros de telefono visualization when working in CAD. This approach ensures at least a fivefold reduction in the size of files with model data, compared to traditional approaches based on CAD geometric kernels" - OOO PlantLinker

The slogan that the authors of PlantLinker draw attention to is “Developed by engineers for engineers.” All project participants have extensive experience working with engineering solutions, know their strengths and weaknesses, and understand the needs of their colleagues well. As a result, the most successful practices from existing systems were adopted during development, and PlantLinker itself tries to meet the needs of engineers as much as possible, not IT specialists. The system can be quickly mastered by specialists with experience in Western software. In addition, it is extremely compact (the full set of modules “weighs” about 100 MB, the base without extensions is less than 80), has minimal requirements for the IT infrastructure, does not contain any external dependencies, and can run on “bare” Windows. The developers deliberately refused to use a DBMS. All data is stored in an open XML format.

" PlantLinker is developed only on the basis of open source libraries. Therefore, we have no obligations to third-party companies. The graphic core is created using the Helix Toolkit library based on DirectX11, to which we have made some changes and extensions. At the same time, we have fundamentally refused to use the DBMS. To install Oracle or MS SQL Server, you need to have special knowledge. In addition, to work with them, you need a very powerful computer. Therefore, in order to reduce the technical requirements for the workplace and simplify the system, we refused to use the DBMS " - OOO PlantLinker

The system has a modular structure, which allows you to connect and disconnect the necessary functionality.

Pipeline modeling
The key module of PlantLinker is pipelines, the basis of all process installations. Modeling is carried out on the basis of specifications (classes), which are formed according to the given technical parameters. Tracing the centerline with the arrangement of elements - bends, tees, inserts - can be performed both manually and automatically based on specifications. Elements and sections of the pipeline can be edited: set and change the slope, place and move components, control valves, sensors, etc. The module allows you to place pipeline supports that fully comply with Russian standards. There is an option to export PCF files to create isometric drawings in Smart Isometrics (ISOGEN) ․ PlantLinker also contains functionally similar modules for working with systems such as ventilation, electrical, heating, water supply, etc.

Catalogs of typical equipment with parameterization
The system is supplied with catalogs of technological elements according to Russian and American standards, all dimensional tables and rule tables are present. The catalog management module allows you to administer specifications and parameterize typical equipment. Catalogs can be created inside PlantLinker or import data from MS Excel. It is possible to create classes and specifications according to the input model, which allows exchanging data between different systems and different companies. These received specifications can also be converted to Excel format for further work in the familiar tool.

The system delivery includes catalogues by disciplines:

1) A catalog of pipeline components (pipes, fittings, valves, instrumentation, flanges, gaskets, fasteners, etc.) based on specifications (pipeline classes) according to Russian and ASME standards. Pipeline components must be grouped into classes by working environment, corrosion resistance requirements, and process parameters. To place a component on a pipeline, the user selects the required element type and its option from those available in the pipeline specification for a given pipeline diameter. This approach helps automate and dramatically speed up the selection of the correct components in accordance with design requirements.
