Hi! Today, I'm going to share with you four habits that I recommend you implement if you want to speak French to the point where you never get stuck again. I tried to condense dozens of discussions that I had with members of the Authentic French Academy who have achieved this goal. And if it worked for them, well it will work for you. So, follow these four tips, implement these four habits as soon as possible. At the end of the video, I will even give you a fifth bonus habit but it is really not for everyone.
First habit: Take care of the basics.
What is the basis? It's very simple. It's sleeping well, eating well and moving. It seems simple, it seems silly and it may seem off topic to you, you can say to yourself: "What is the impact? What does this have to do with learning French?" but it is important.
Learning a foreign language requires work, it requires energy and you can't work hard, you can't have energy, you can't have concentration, if you don't respect the basics, if you're tired all the time and you're not healthy. So start there. Sleep well, eat well, move. If you don't do it, all the other learning efforts you make will pay little.
Second habit, this is something that I have been repeating constantly for 13 years, and today, it has become something universal, that everyone recognizes and that everyone talks about, it is about consuming authentic content every day. This is the key. This is the only thing that works. I have never met a single person who spoke French without blocking, in a completely natural way, and who had not established this habit of listening to a lot of Authentic French every day.
For this to work, there are three conditions. It must be French that you understand, so you must understand at least 70% of what you listen to. It must be authentic content, so content offered by a French speaker. And it must be content that interests you, because if it doesn't interest you, you won't listen to it every day. To be motivated, listen to things that interest you.
No matter what type of content, make it convenient for you and make it easy for you to listen to it while you're on your way to work, in the car or on public transport, while you're exercising, while you're walking the dog, while you're cleaning, whatever, you need to have content that you can easily listen to anywhere. Listen to podcasts, watch videos, read books, etc.
Habit 3: Join a community. Connecting with others is a human need. We all have this need to belong, to belong to a group. It allows you to develop friendships and not stay alone. It is often sad to be alone. Being part of a community allows you to work collaboratively.
On the one hand, when you need, when you have specific questions, the other members are there to help you, they are also there to motivate you when you are a little fed up. And on israel whatsapp number data the other hand, you, when you are going to teach, when you are going to share the things that you know with the members of the community, well you are going to reinforce your learning, because when we share something that we know, we reinforce, therefore, we develop, we learn by teaching.
And being part of a community brings you practice. To improve your French, to speak without blocking, you need to practice, like a guitarist needs to play, to practice his instrument every day, the same for you. I invite you, therefore, to be part of a community to practice.
Fourth super important habit: Have confidence in yourself. Be forgiving with yourself. It's normal to make mistakes when speaking in a foreign language, it's normal to sometimes forget vocabulary words or conjugation rules, it's normal, be forgiving. It is essential that you have a positive mindset, that you trust yourself, that you trust in your ability to improve in French and that you trust, of course, the natural learning method that I propose to you.
The idea is really to focus on small daily improvements rather than looking for big, irregular improvements. This is what we call the kaizen spirit. Sometimes, we progress quickly; sometimes, we progress less quickly, but we always progress if we listen to authentic content every day. So, don't stress, don't panic, have confidence in yourself.
