To model roads in Civil 3D, corridors are used, created on the basis of routes, profiles and cross-sections. Yaroslav Demichev noted that cross-sections often change, which complicates the design of urban roads. Because of this, it is necessary to use universal design elements, the creation of which takes a lot of time.
Another drawback is the limitations of the program's functionality for working with traffic management tasks. For example, road signs and traffic lights are formed in Revit and then integrated back into Civil 3D. Russian analogues provide more advanced tools for these purposes, which gives .
Data export formats
Export of digital models in IFC format has become the standard for providing data to state expertise. After the creation of the IFC 4.3 scheme, it became possible to take into account the features of linear objects. However, the data structure in the exported files still leaves much to be desired.
The BCF (BIM Collaboration Format) format is actively used for interaction with employees of state examination bodies. It allows working with comments directly in the model, which speeds up the process of their elimination. In Autodesk products, BCF is integrated using free plugins. But in Russian programs, according to Yaroslav Demichev's experience, importing this format is not yet possible.
It is impossible to make a clear choice
Yaroslav Demichev noted that digital information modeling is extremely useful for passing state examination. In the future, the development of domestic technologies and standardization of requirements will improve the efficiency of using BIM in Russia. But for now, there are a number of unresolved issues on the way to its implementation:

Despite these problems, tools like Civil 3D and domestic analogues already allow designers to cover their basic needs. In practice, the examination mainly checks models for collisions and compliance with standard distances, which does not require high model detailing.
