How do you create sustainable value?
3. Ensure that user and business perspectives are in balance
The challenge with design thinking and putting the user first is to avoid losing sight of the business perspective. Suppose the Digital Team has created a beautiful customer experience . Users are enthusiastic. But… it is not commercially interesting. It does not generate a revenue stream, is too expensive to implement and maintenance is not scalable in the future. The many start-ups that fail every year are proof of this. They often forget the commercial side.
It is therefore necessary to continue to think from the business perspective. Do my customers recognize that problem X exists? Check. But: are they also prepared to pay for a solution? Are they prepared to pay us for this? And not unimportant: do I want to develop a solution for this?

Challenge the Digital Team in this, without falling into the trap of steering too much on (internal) business objectives, so that the user perspective is snowed under. So validate the revenue model and the associated price model with the users at an early stage. Use Finance and Legal employees of your organization to help the Digital Team with this.
How do you maintain quality and speed?
4. Be critical when moving from concept to production
A digital concept has been conceived, made tangible and validated from a user perspective. Now the step is made from concept to production. This means that the team must work together with stakeholders to realize the concept. Of course without making concessions to the quality and achieving the user and business objectives.
For the Digital Team this means a change of focus. It is no longer on solving a user problem in a valuable way (design thinking), but on the minimum viable product (MVP) (Lean) and working according to the scrum methodology ( agile ).
Pitfalls
As a PO, don't confuse the MVP with the first release with a bulk of features. The MVP is meant to find out what is most important to learn first. And to determine what minimum work is needed to laos telegram data achieve the users and business goals. Another pitfall is that over time you start to focus more on velocity (efficient delivery of code) instead of on continuously learning quickly and delivering value.
Therefore, ask for an experienced agile coach who can assist you as PO and the organization in maintaining the balance between quality and speed. And also engage a good UX Researcher, who monitors the feedback loop during the production phase and provides you with valuable input for your backlog.
Jeff Gothelf already put it nicely. 'At the end of the day, your customers don't care whether you practice agile, lean or design thinking. They care about great products and services that solve meaningful problems for them in effective ways.'
5: Identify opportunities and ensure sufficient access to 'talent.
